Dr Harvey is a highly qualified general surgeon with a subspeciality in colorectal surgery. After achieving Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), he completed a prestigious training program in colorectal surgery offered by the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ). This program included intensive clinical experience at leading hospitals in Auckland and Perth, alongside comprehensive academic studies.
Dr Harvey is passionate about serving regional communities. He’s currently the only CSSANZ member practising in South West Australia, offering both specialised care for colorectal conditions and a broad range of general surgery services.

Dr Harvey is also a credentialled endoscopist and a member of multiple professional organisations, including the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA), the International Continence Society (ICS), and General Surgeons Australia (GSA).
Dr Harvey is a strong advocate for continuous learning and patient well-being. He holds a Master’s degree in Surgery (Surgical Outcomes) and has published research on improving surgical care, pelvic floor health, and service delivery in regional areas. He’s currently involved in a project to better understand patient quality of life after J-pouch surgery for ulcerative colitis.
He’s also actively involved in training future surgeons, equipping them with essential communication and professional skills through the Training in Professional Skills (TIPS) course offered by RACS. Additionally, he serves as an examiner for RACS clinical examinations for surgical registrars.
While colorectal surgery is Dr Harvey’s primary area of expertise, his curiosity extends beyond medicine. He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and postgraduate qualifications in European languages and tropical medicine.
Outside of work, you might find Dr Harvey enjoying the active lifestyle of South West Australia with his partner (a local general practitioner), their children, and their kelpie companion.

Dr Xavier Harvey
Dr Xavier Harvey is the founder of South West Colorectal Surgery. As a surgeon and Member of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand, he is committed to providing the highest possible standard of general and colorectal surgical care.
Dr Harvey is credentialed at SJOG Bunbury, Bunbury Day Hospital as well as the Public WA Country Health Service hospitals in the region including Bunbury Regional Hospital, Busselton Hospital, Bridgetown Hospital, Warren (Manjimup). For patients without private health insurance, please speak with Dr Harvey before referring as Dr Harvey does not have regular operating lists at public hospitals. However, Dr Harvey and the team at SW Colorectal Surgery are happy to discuss any individual's situation to see how we can help.
Dr Callum Pearce
Dr Callum Pearce is a leading gastroenterologist who is founder and director of Wexford Gastroenterology in Perth. He is also Head of Gastroenterology at Fiona Stanley Hospital. He works closely with Dr Harvey and Tim to offer patients shared-care arrangements with an integrated approach to treatment. Dr Pearce offers telehealth services to patients in the South West with face-to-face consultations at his rooms in Murdoch. Please note that referrals to Dr Pearce should be made directly to his rooms at Westside Gastroenterology.
Tim O’Grady
Tim O'Grady is a university-trained naturopath & gut health expert with 20 years of clinical experience. He has significant expertise in treating digestive disorders, particularly through testing and treating the gut microbiome. Treatment is personalised and may include nutrition, herbal medicine, and pre-, pro- and post-biotics.
Tim utilises naturopathic interventions that are safe and effective for functional bowel disorders such as IBS, and can also play a complementary role alongside medical care for conditions like inflammatory bowel disease and diverticular disease. Tim is experienced in co-managing digestive disorders with other medical professionals including GPs and gastroenterologists, and is an advocate for a patient-centred approach to healthcare.
Dale Scott
Dale graduated with a Physiotherapy degree from Curtin University in 2001 and a Masters from UWA in 2009. She has worked in Australia and the UK, developing hands-on treatment skills and experience in exercise rehabilitation. Specialising in pelvic health, she earned a Professional Certificate in Pelvic Organ Prolapse management in 2022.
Dale helps men and women with continence, pelvic organ prolapse, and pelvic pain. She also supports women through pregnancy, labour, and postpartum recovery. Her services include bladder and bowel assessments, pelvic floor muscle rehab, and fitting support pessaries for non-surgical prolapse management.
Dale grew up in Margaret River and returned to the South West in 2010 to start a family. She has two young children and enjoys running to stay active.

We consult at St John of God Bunbury Hospital. Procedures can be arranged at St John of God Bunbury and at the Bunbury Day Hospital.
Our rooms at SJOG are attended every day of the week from 9am until 4.30pm.
